Fire+Water

AS COLORADOANS, we love spending time outdoors. Sun or snow, we are outside skiing, hiking, swimming or just enjoying nature. So, if you’re designing an outdoor living space for your home, why not make one that you can enjoy all year long?

A pool and spa combined with a fire pit and seating area create the perfect outdoor area for relaxing and entertaining. Joseph Nguyen, of Dream Makers Landscapes, says, “These two things go hand in hand because they allow you to use your outdoor space comfortably year-round.”

Mountain-contemporary style is an ideal design for such a space; it naturally blends in as if you carved it from your own backyard. Stone in shades of tan, brown and gray complements this style, perhaps with wood accents. Natural landscaping elements, such as forestry, rocks and wildflowers, are apt accompaniments for mountain-contemporary design.

To entertain family and friends, include a central Jacuzzi and pool, ample patio space and a fire pit. For additional entertainment, add a covered kitchen, outdoor dining space or even TVs.

The idea is to “make the backyard feel like the residents’ own mini-resort,” Nguyen says of a recent outdoor spa and fireplace project that Dream Makers completed. The more conveniences, the cozier your outdoor living space will feel. “Rather than having to leave your home to enjoy all of these nice amenities, the goal is that you can go right to your own backyard,” Nguyen says. denvercoloradolandscape.com
